Jai ‘Zaiu’ Ranjit is a self-taught artist, photographer, writer and printmaker with a career beginning in 2007. He has been an educator in the fields of art and design since 2009, and currently teaches at Atlas SkillTech University in Mumbai, where he also resides. In 2022, Zaiu joined collaborated with Himanshu S & other artists to open the uniquely positioned FLUXUS CHAPEL in Bandra, Mumbai, an art-library-learning space that brings a mix of zines, books, art and workshops to the public.
Zaiu began his career as an artist under the mentorship of Brinda Chudasama Miller in the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, before organising and hosting his first solo exhibition in December 2008. Titled “Human Tendencies”, the exhibition was the first of two held in Kala Ghoda’s Art Entrance gallery before Zaiu began to exhibit in group shows across the country.
Taking on a more curatorial role, Zaiu was one of the founding members of Visual Disobedience, an artist collective that showcased the talents of a multitude of artists across India. This led him to begin organising a series of group shows entitled “SPEKTRUM”, showing first in Navi Mumbai & then Indore.
Zaiu’s career in education began in 2009 at Mod’Art International, following which he has taught in a variety of roles ranging from personal instructor to children’s educator to hosting his own workshops in collaboration with BARO.
Today, Zaiu is the Associate Director of Student Experience & a faculty member of ISDI School of Design & Innovation in Mumbai alongside contributing to the Atlas SkillTech University ecosystem and to Community Outreach program collaborations.
